Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park

What it is
The Old Croton Aqueduct Trail is a historic walking trail that follows the path of one of New York City’s earliest water systems, with a route that runs through Dobbs Ferry and other Hudson River towns.

What makes it special
• Built on the remains of a major 19th-century engineering project
• Easygoing trail that’s generally straight and not steep
• Original stone vents and weir structures still appear along the route
• Blends local nature, river-town atmosphere, and New York history in one walk

Good for
Walks and light hikes • History lovers • Scenic, low-key exploring

Insider tip
Keep an eye out for the old stone structures along the trail — they’re remnants of the original aqueduct and part of what makes the walk feel so distinctive.
